Sunrise, Kettle Moraine State Forest, Lapham Peak Unit, WI
The day after my 50th birthday (March 2008) I took the day off, got up early, drove to the country, and caught the sunrise. It was really cold with a wind-chill of -2°F.
I climbed the 45-foot wooden observation tower atop the highest point (1,233 feet) in Waukesha County and waited for the sun to rise above the clouds that were over Lake Michigan (which is about 30 miles to the east). Officially, sunrise was at 6:18am today
